In fact, the Maldives is a very family friendly holiday destination. Each resort is located on its own private island, encircled by a tranquil lagoon. For the ultimate experience, we recommend booking an overwater villa with a private pool. If you’re feeling fancy, some resorts offer a private pool villa with a waterslide too.  

Overwater villas have direct access to the lagoon below which means you can jump right in and begin your day meeting the local marine life. Most resorts will provide complementary snorkel equipment and have a dive centre to help begin your explorations. The whole family can enjoy swimming through vibrant coral gardens, spotting schools of unique tropical fish, hermit crabs, elegant manta ray, families of turtles and many other members of the underwater ecosystem. What a kaleidoscopic experience underwater: overwater, float on the calm turquoise surface, kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding with shimmering blue all around you. For added thrill, encounter the Maldives from a different vantage point when you and the family go parasailing in a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Spot hidden gems from an aerial view and watch the world go by as you glide through the different hues of blue, or for the same view minus the speed, learn to climb a coconut tree from the locals. For those days you want to spend out of the sun and with a cocktail or mocktail in hand, but the kids want to splash and play, your private pool will come in handy, providing an even safer environment for hours of fun in the sun. If you’d prefer to venture out of your room to enjoy happy hour and an early dinner, your junior explorers can take advantage of the kids’ club and make lifelong friends. Utilize the babysitter services for a relaxing evening to yourself or perhaps share a game of volleyball together for family fun.  

Take a traditional Maldivian dhoni around the atolls and watch as the friendly dolphins ride the bow waves of the boat, leaping and twirling, showing off their acrobatic skills.
